Vega Breakfast Smoothie

I caved and bought a canister of the Vega Complete Whole Food Health Optimizer, natural flavor, at Whole Foods this past weekend.  What pulled me in was the satisfaction of getting 100% daily vitamins and minerals in a smoothie and it is vegan.  Yes it is pricey, but if it provides me the energy needed without taking numerous supplements and food, I will take it.  Being a very busy mom of two young and energetic boys, it is worth the price over my time.

A's Vegan Vega Breakfast Smoothie:
  • 1 to 2 scoops Vega Whole Foods Health Optimizer (flavor of your choice)
  • 1 banana
  • 1 cup frozen blueberries
  • 1 cup almond milk
  • 1 cup water
  • 1 Tablespoon agave nectar

Put all the ingredients into a blender and blend until smooth, then enjoy.  This is a very filling smoothie that keeps me full for 3 to 4 hours and is perfect after my Insanity workout.

I am not going to lie, the natural flavor is not the greatest, but if it continues to give me the energy I keep feeling after taking it, it is worth it to me.  There were no other flavor options available at the store, so I bought what they had.  Went online last night and ordered other flavors in hopes of a better tasting smoothie and will keep you posted on my future taste tests with them all.

  1. I saw the Vega when I went to Whole Foods on Monday. I really want to try it, but I just can't bring myself to pay that much...not right now anyway. :o) I did buy some pea protein powder though. I've had it the past two mornings and it's not bad. It really doesn't have a taste, but you can tell it's in the smoothie...it's a tad chalky, but that doesn't bother me. I'll have to try the Vega sometime though....that's for sure.

  2. I had the chai flavor the other day and didn't love it. The fruity ones are good though! I use the packet a few times to make it stretch through 2-3 smoothies.
